Systems AIV/AIT Engineer (f/m/d)

The Position:

As a full time Systems Assembly, Integration and Test Engineer you will be assigned to projects where you will be responsible for activities related to assembly, integration, testing and verification of key functionalities of the overall space flight platform system. You will support the definition, organization and execution of associated test and verification campaigns. To do so you will closely together with Systems Engineers, Design Engineers, test operators and the PA/QA team.


Excellent organizational skills and familiarity with environmental test standards (e.g. ECSS, MIL-STD) are required. Solid theoretical as well as practical knowledge of electronics will be considered as a big advantage. Moreover, initiative and awareness of the project schedule and deadlines is expected. As a member of the Mechanical Engineering/MAIT team you propose and introduce changes in the Spacecraft AIT phase to streamline the process as part of the continuous improvement process.


Your work will include:

  • Assemble/ maintain laboratory equipment, including vacuum facilities, and to carry out assembly/ production processes for test and flight hardware, including documentation
  • Preparation of system functional test, verification and validation documents
  • Interface between the Systems/ Design Engineers and the Test facilities
  • Assist the development of in-house test facilities (vacuum chambers, clean rooms, etc.)
  • Lead or support the delivery of flight-ready satellite systems and ensure their functionality, performance and flight acceptance
  • Implementation of system harness (detailed definition, preparation of production and integration instructions)
  • Execute and control system functional tests
  • Reporting of system functional test results to the Chief Engineer, project manager and QA



  • Degree (Bachelor’s or preferably Master’s level) in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Electrical or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of hands-on test and integration experience in later MAIT space project phases or a comparable technical environment
  • Testing experience in at least one major spacecraft subsystem/domain (electrical, mechanical, thermal, EMC)
  • Good knowledge of GSE operations and infrastructure
  • Experience of spacecraft verification engineering
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards in systems engineering, testing and verification
  • Solid documentation writing skills (in English)
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment
  • An ability to work independently when needed
  • Available to travel and work on shifts during mechanical and thermal test campaigns
  • Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written)


Nice to haves:

  • Solid knowledge of PCB design in order to interface with the Electrical Engineering Designers
  • Knowledge of Design Engineering and Analysis tools (Solidworks, Altium Designer, FEM tools)
  • Proficiency in the German language (spoken and written)
  • Experience in optics and/or thermal systems control engineering
